The Internet has become the great scapegoat! Our Saviour from experiencing rejection. A perfect tool for creating contacts and developing your own network of masterminds, being used to depersonalize the experience, and keep you from using the tool completely. We've all heard it, some of us may even preach it..., get a website to be your slave. Websites are your 24x7x365 on demand presentation, never take a break, and will never experience the emotions of rejection!

Absolutely NO REJECTION! None, Zip, Zilch, ZERO! Networking, and network marketing is NOT about watching prospects catch a few winks of sleep. Certainly it is NOT about having the prospects turn tail and run either! Network and Internet Marketing IS ALL ABOUT building relationships, and a business, without the paralyzing and deadly effects caused by our own fear of rejection!

Are you still with me? Let's be honest, who wouldn't want their success guaranteed by never having to experience the pain of rejection? If nothing else it sure gives our journey a lot of fun and pleasure! The fear of rejection, like a cancer, has been known to keep many fantastic opportunities “Top Secret”. As a result, most opportunities wither, die, only to become another world class failure statistic.

Building a relationship does not involve rejection. When you connect with anybody, show genuine interest in them and what they like to do. Extend a genuine handshake of love and support to them. Honestly wish them success as a fellow traveler on our entrepreneurial journey. You might even want to add them to your own network. Well..., where is the rejection in that? I don't see it, what I do see however is a lot more “warm fuzzy feelings” being shared.

If you can master these 3 simple things, you will build your self a great network of individuals and masterminds. It should not matter if the the people in your network are involved in your opportunity or not! The goal is to connect with people, and do what we can to support each others success, regardless of the specific path each is walking. If you can embrace this concept, you will create the network of your choosing and never feel or experience the fear and depression of rejection ever again!

Networking is all about building relationships! Are you are using the Internet as your website slave to escape rejection and redirect it to an emotionless medium. Many are so contented to relieve the fear of rejection, they don't even think about the rejection being experienced by their emotionless slave. To truly build a relationship, you must not only be touchable... you must also reach out and touch.

Everybody loves having “that warm fuzzy feeling”. Even within a global community you can build a touch and feel relationship with anyone you choose. Unfortunately this wonderful tool for global networking is not used for building relationships. Instead it is being abused with meaningless promotion and persistent sales pitches. Inevitably, when we use the Internet as our savior and scapegoat to avoid rejection, we also lose focus of the networking. After all, you have an emotionless slave delivering your message anytime anyone will visit. This happy slave works day in and day out, and never feels the constant rejection it experiences!

Are you using the “3 foot” or “contact” rule to engage your prospect and make them drag information out of you? Do you establish and build upon the warm and fuzzy emotions established through personal contact? Perhaps, you're still putting people to sleep, or watching them run away so fast you wonder what happened. It's your mindset, would you rather live in the fear of constant rejection, or do you prefer experiencing the world without any fear of rejection? It's up to you! Establish your mindset, control your life!

2. Mindset: Some People, You Just Can't Help Them.

Let's take another look at mindset… those thoughts and emotions buried so deep inside you, they actually control your actions and reactions to every situation. Additionally, your mindset defines your view of the world and society that has become your belief system!

True story…, one of my long time dearest friends had talked for years about having her granddaughter's parents being declared incompetent and adopting the child to raise herself. Sadly, her solution is in the child's best interest as both mother and father are completely unstable. Well as time would have it, the day came when the child's mother notarized power of attorney to my friend and since the "father" is not biological she was only 6 months away from being able to establish legal guardianship. Another year or two and adoption was almost guaranteed!

I truly wish this story had a happy ending, however, the arrangement lasted about 1 month. I was totally shocked because my friend is strong confidant, even overwhelming at times. I know how much she loves her granddaughter! The difference between what could have been, and what is stretches all opposites to the extreme.

Excuse, after excuse, after excuse, after excuse. Everything she had hoped and prayed for was being placed into her hands, and all she could express were excuses why it was a bad idea, and would NEVER work! Her mindset was not prepared and unable to cope with a blessed opportunity! My heart was broken when my friend decided she would rather isolate herself with a victims mentality and depression, rather than embrace the gift life had presented with a confidence of accepting there is no challenge to great.

Mindset is not anything someone can give you. YOU Already Have IT! There are infinite sources available, even gurus, claiming they can change your mindset. Don't believe them… all they do is present information and provide a method to use. The only thing that changes your mindset is YOU!

If you understand that… this will be a piece of cake, easy as pie, are you hungry yet? YOU WILL NEVER CHANGE THE MINDSET OF A PROSPECT! It will not happen… guaranteed! You may sell them something whether they need it or not, but you did not change them.

Hopefully, many of your prospects become your friends. Some might even be loyal up-line - down-line - right leg - left leg - however the program is structured is not important. What is important asks…, is your network primarily limited to contacts within your own opportunities?
It takes no effort at all to hang out with your own crowd! It's like going to church on Sunday. You go to the same place and socialize with the same people every week, and listen to the same sermons every year. Limiting you network to your own opportunity(es) limits your ability to grow, develop, and prevents your network from becoming truly interconnected.

If you can accept this simple truth… The only person you will ever change is you! Your life becomes infinitely more simple, when you realize you just can't help everyone, and some of them don't even want your help! I know it's hard to believe, however, some prospects would not accept a golden ring if you placed it in their hand.

The #1 Key to Success IS Mindset!

This one simple word is responsible for your success or failure! It doesn't matter what you are doing or promoting, from sports and hobbies, to business and personal achievement. When your mindset is properly focused, YOU WILL be successful!

There are many variations of this quote, and it is an eternal truth;

“What the mind can conceive it can achieve!”

We all have a mindset, believe it or not, and it is actively directing our personal experiences every second of every day, of every week, of every month, of every year, decade, score, century, and millennium. Now I can't control the mindset of humanity as a whole, however, I do contribute to it. What I can control is MY OWN mindset!

What exactly is MINDSET anyway? The dictionary defines mindset as;

A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person's responses to and interpretations of situations. An inclination or a habit.

Individual mindset determines YOUR interpretation and response to every situation. The infamous wikipedia takes it to the next level and incorporates group mindset;

“A mindset, in decision theory and general systems theory, refers to a set of assumptions, methods or notations held by one or more people or groups of people which is so established that it creates a powerful incentive within these people or groups to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviours, choices, or tools. This phenomenon of cognitive bias is also sometimes described as mental inertia, "groupthink", or a "paradigm", and it is often difficult to counteract its effects upon analysis and decision making processes.“

It's obvious then, mindset is a whole lot more than an idea we may have. Mindset actually defines us, and the social infrastructure we build around our own lives. Mindset is an integral part of who and what we are, like the DNA which defines our physical bodies, MINDSET defines our mental attitudes, emotions, and auras. Mindset in effect is our belief system!

Beliefs are ideas so deeply ingrained into our consciousness we are barley aware of their existence. However, just like any idea, beliefs can change, if we decide to change them! Yes, it's gonna take some work and a lot of discipline, but YOU can change your beliefs and hence change your mindset.

Developing mindset covers vast areas of personal discipline and becoming aware of our thought patterns. It's impossible to cover everything in one short post, so I'll be publishing a complete series devoted to establishing a focused mindset for success. 4. World Class Failure

World Class Failure!

It's an ugly topic, but as more and more people are getting involved with a home based business of some sort, it's also important to know what they are getting into. Most work at home opportunities are inherently flawed. They are top heavy with distributors and affiliates providing no means to build a strong customer base. In effect there are hundreds if not thousands of distributors competing for the same customers business. The customer decides, primarily upon emotional triggers, as to which distributor or affiliate they will do business with.

What does it take to be considered World Class? A lot! There are a number of international standards groups covering many different business industries. Each one has a common theme, how efficient does the company operate in it's many product and service offerings. Accounting, Management, Customer Service, Quality Control, and just about every other business process the company is involved with including the manufacturing and distribution processes. In essence, to achieve World Class Certification a company must be on average 95% efficient in their business practice.

Each aspect of the business is considered individually, and then aggregated into the whole. Some aspects may have a compliance requirement of only 90% while others actually require 100% compliance to be considered world class. It is the aggregate total that determines if a business will be certified as being World Class. Unfortunately, the home based business industry has an embarrassing dropout and failure rate that exceeds 95%! When you put this in perspective with the international standards you can clearly see how the home based business industry could be certified as a World Class Failure!

Yet in spite of the obvious, the home business industry grows stronger every day! With over 8,000 individuals starting a new work from home opportunity on a weekly basis. That's about 416,000 new startups in the home based business field every year, and nearly 400,000 of them will never survive their first year. Many will not even make it 3 – 6 months before dropping out and / or jumping over to another opportunity. The illusion of instant riches and overnight success, without putting forth a consistent effort, dooms these dreamers to become another statistic of world class failure.

The people that are successful with their home based business are the ones who understand the no free ride principle. Everything has a price, be it time, money, or both. To be successful requires a mindset and determination, as well as commitment to do whatever is necessary. Success does NOT just happen, it is to be cultivated and enjoyed over time from by working and putting forth personal effort.

5. Lifestyle is a Choice

It's all about the LifeStyle!

Nobody said it was going to be easy. If somebody did..., they lied! When you consider what I refer to as a world class failure rate in the home based business industry, it's anything but easy. With a horrific, even embarrassing, failure rate that exceeds 95% looking you squarely in the eyes, why would anyone take on such overwhelming odds?

The answer can be summed up in one word... “LifeStyle”! People that start and succeed with a home based business are demanding their freedom to choose whatever lifestyle they desire. Sure there are incredible benefits to having your own business, taxes, time, and income are all high on the list. Many other benefits are enjoyed by successful home business owners, but it's what they do with these benefits that is important. Lifestyle is the result of effort.

Does your lifestyle consist of a daily commute to a job that wears you down for 8 – 10 – 12 hours a day? Does it seem all you have time for is eating, sleeping, and working 40 – 60 – 80 hours a week? Is there ever too much month at the end of the money, or is there never any time to enjoy the money you work so hard to earn? This is the lifestyle a majority of people endure working their corporate jobs.

Imagine a lifestyle without rush hour traffic jams. Imagine working your own hours on your schedule. It is possible, but it will also take some work. I know it's a four letter word, however, the reason over 95% of home based business never survive is because of that dirty little four letter word... “work”! If you want a change of lifestyle you will have to work for it. There ain't no free lunch! How to start business requires effort and work, it may be time, or money, or both. Well worth the effort is the payoff when before you know it you start living and enjoying the lifestyle of your own choosing!
